There was a woman in California who had 3 children and no husband. She was still in her 20’s and had a whole life before her. Her situation was confusing to many; her life was a classic case of good intentions and programs gone astray.
There was an attempt to introduce her to the Lord and get her children into the house of God. As we spent time in prayer, sharing the word, witnessing her make a profession of faith in Jesus as Savior, and actual physical work as in picking her and her family up and taking them to church, a roadblock showed up.
It had been placed there by a system meant to help people until they were able to manage their affairs. It was a system that had produced generations of people who became addicted and dependent on that system. It started out as a very useful thing for a certain time, yet when its time was over, it did not go away.
It was a welfare system now in the hands of the devil and a tool that could ultimately work against the very soul of a young lady. Because of her lifestyle under the welfare system, she could live better and easier than working on her own. She actually made more money by staying unwed and on welfare, and when choosing between the Lord and her system, she chose the system.
How was it a choice between the Lord and her system, because when the Holy Spirit confronted her with the truth of Christ, there was a decision she needed to make in regards to her lifestyle, and she could not see the glory of God through the fog of Satan’s deception, so she just kind of backed away from the Lord.
How many of us have been confronted by the Holy Spirit and instead of giving up our system, we just back away from the Lord. We may appear to be doing the Holy Spirit’s bidding and we may appear to be physically in there with the rest of the followers of Christ, yet in spirit, we are far from that which the Spirit of God would have us doing.
It’s not just a little hard to let go, it is terribly hard to walk on the water, and that is what we are ask to do. Should we be sorry if God has confronted us and we have backed away? What if we are following a system instead of Jesus? Can we walk away from the religious system even if it is being called Christianity? What do we do today, follow the crowd or follow the narrow path and escape into the arms of Jesus? Can we trust and believe no matter what?
Dear God send a great revival, give us a renewed brokenness, and turn our pleasures in this world into that which glorifies you. Let our pleasures be in the sacrificing of our self for the salvation of souls. Turn our eyes unto Jesus the Savior, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords. Take us to another level of spirituality like we have been promised including the ability to do the works of Jesus and even more than Jesus did, and may we accept your will and understand your ways.
May your young men rise up to preach the gospel with power and unconditional surrender to the Holy Spirit! May your young women rise up and pray, lifting up their voices as the voices of angels breaking down the strongholds of the devil! May the body of Christ be inspired to let go of the dependence on a system and take up their cross no matter what, and follow Jesus.
We do not need a system, we only need the Father. Does He see you, does He hear you, and does He know you?
It is not our life anymore, we pick up our cross and go!
We follow the Lamb, We Turn to His love, We send up our praise,
We glorify God with our lips, we stand with the word,
We shout to the Heavens, He is Lord, He is Lord!
