Gen 40:12-15  And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days:

Yet within three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thy place: and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh’s cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler.

But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:

For indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.

Gen 40:20-23  And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.

And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand:

But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.

Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.

Beginning in Genesis 37 through Genesis 50, a tremendous insight to God’s provisional hand is exposed to the world through the life of Joseph. We see God working and watching over Joseph, even when Joseph could not understand what was happening to him.

In Genesis 40:12-15, our character Joseph is given the ability to interpret a dream for a prisoner. In this dream, Joseph sees someone whom has not been in prison as long as he restored to the graces of the Pharaoh. This perhaps reminded Joseph of his previous position with the Pharaoh, the lies that put him in prison, and the unrighteousness being done to him.

As he looked at his situation, he justified his next actions and therefore sought to find help in this man whom he had just brought good news. Joseph thought his good deed would persuade an early end to the not so pleasant surroundings of which he was living. This was neither a sin nor distrust in God; it was for an example to Joseph and to us.

Job 1:21-22  And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

1Co 15:19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

In the good and the bad, all we really have is trust in God. This is what will see us through to the end rather it be the outpouring of God’s blessings in our current life or the hardships of the world. God will provide according to His will and not ours.

If we will look to the God who created us, in due time, God’s way will be done. Outward appearances, possessions, and even acquaintances fade away, but God is always, He is, “I AM THAT I AM”. We may attempt with all our might and ability, with all our blessed traits and gifts from God, and through our own sacrifices and works to change the will of God, but try as we may, the creation of God is at the mercy of the creator from the time of our creation.
